There are a lot of old fashioned arts being perpetuated in our small rural area. We are pretty agriculturally based, but also have a University in the area and attract quite a crowd of tourists in the summer months. This makes for a very interesting dynamic in the local economy. The arts flourish here. For example, we have this really great little gift shop. They sell these beeswax candles and also have a display on votive candle making. We all use electricity like everyone else, of course, but visitors really eat up the quaintness of seeing old fashioned things that are still being done.
