Out of all the Internet Scams this is a more complicated crime. You put an item for sale on the Internet, say for $100. You’re then contacted by a buyer, who offers to buy the item for a lot more than the asking price, say $2,000. They then promise to transfer even more money to you, say $3,000. They ask you to deduct the price of the item and transfer the rest (so the $1,000) to another account. They then contact you to say their money is being transferred to you and ask for you to transfer the difference to them straightaway. Of course, the money they’re sending to you never arrives, meanwhile the money you’ve sent disappears and you never hear from them again.
