Phone tapping equipment has come a long way since the old days where it just started to emerge. Over my long career as an intelligence officer, I have seen it all. I have seen the very early prototypes, up to the latest ones. Some i can’t even talk about it still.
As soon as the phone was invented, our governments and those of other countries have started developing means to tap phone systems.It started with big bulky black boxes which you had to hide somehow, so the oerson wouldn’t know it was there. It’s quite funny now thinking about it. The latest phone tapping equipment is very small and rely on integrated digital memory chips. Not quite your old uncle phone tap equipment for sure.
