For the past several years now, I have been spending my summer holidays in Europe. Europe is a wonderful area, but it seemed to me that there was much more out there to explore. I was looking for adventure, for something different and exciting. My travel searches led me to a website advertising for Oman holidays. Intrigued, I clicked and was transported to an exciting new world. Further investigation revealed wonder after wonder awaiting me. Oman vacations are something out of the ordinary, something exciting, and exactly what I had been looking for.
Before my initial encounter with the Oman vacation website, I had known little about Oman. I quickly discovered that Oman is a fascinating land with a striking coastline, beautiful mountains, and ancient cities to explore. The capital city, Muscat, is called “Arabia’s jewel” because of its abundant greenery, its pristine white buildings, and its beautiful coastline. Cities such as Muscat, Sur, and Nizwa offer everything from diverse natural settings to archaeological sites and museums and from high rise buildings to quaint buildings and city centres.
In oman travel is easier than I had expected. Buses provide transportation between most sites visited by tourists, and one can always rent a car to travel independently. This is very convenient; there are so many things to see and do! Oman’s geography is as beautiful as it is interesting. Within Oman’s borders, a traveller finds everything from the stark and barren desert in the Wahiba sands, to green spaces abounding in lush plants thanks to the annual monsoon season in Salalah. Oman’s mountains are laced with deep canyons and its coast is dotted with ancient forts. With so much to see and do in Oman, it is a wonder that I hadn’t thought of it before. Oman is a unique, exciting, and truly fascination vacation destination.
