One of the most interesting places to visit in Utah is the College of Eastern Utah Prehistoric Museum. It is divided into two sections, one dedicated to paleontology, and the other dedicated to archaeology. In the Hall of Archaeology, visitors can discover all of the different humans that made the land their home, including exhibits on the paleoindians, the Desert Archaic culture, the Fremont culture, and the Ute. The Ute are the most recent tribe to occupy the land, and are still there in fact. Here you can see a complete skeleton of a wooly mammoth and a replica of a Ute tipi that shows how they lived. The Hall of Dinosaurs delves deeper into the past and focuses on the great beasts of the prehistoric past. You can see fossils from the famous Utahraptor and an allosaurus. A number of exhibits help you to get a real sense of the size of these creatures. You can visit throughout the year, but the hours and days are different depending on when you go. April 1 to September 30, the museum is open seven days a week, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. From October 1 through March 31, it is open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
